Despite the cold weather, hibernation is not an option for the PlanetWatchers team. We have been hard at work to add to, improve, and mature our services so we can serve our customers better.

On the claims side, our Prevented Planting solution has been enhanced. We have made a substantial investment in integrating the feedback we received on the first version released last year and an automated service is now in place, with richer data and faster turnaround time, to help you adjust claims faster than ever before. In addition, we have built more capacity into our Wind Damage Service, tuning the algorithms to better detect wind events at all scales.

Our machine learning team has been busy collecting last year’s Acreage Reporting results to tune and improve the quality of our algorithms. We are now reaching accuracy that surpasses even our expectations and can achieve precision higher than 90% in many cases. We’re also happy to say that Forecasted Acreage Reporting is now officially part of our offering. Customers can leverage this prediction service as early as January 1st, and utilize it in their planning activities.

To increase output availability, we have improved and expanded our CropCycle API, making it more user-friendly by streamlining the output formats and upgrading our documentation. There’s even an open-to-all sandbox environment for prospective users (albeit geeky ones) to play with and plan their integration work.

Last, but not least, following requests from several customers, we have completed the first version of our Harvest Service. We are happy to say that we can detect harvest operations and this service is now available to customers.

Focusing exclusively on crop insurance in North America, PlanetWatchers tells the story of every field saving our customers time and money by enhancing policy and claims validation.
