PlanetWatchers at NCIS 2023: Day 4
Here’s a recap of Day 4 at the 2023 Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention, held from February 12th to 15th in Bonita Springs, Florida.
This day of the Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention was full of excitement and anticipation for the PlanetWatchers minigolf tournament happening in the afternoon. The day began in a similar way to Monday with a buffet breakfast in the sunshine. Muffin eaten and orange juice drunk, it was time to enter the main hall for the morning conference sessions.
We were off to an engaging start with a session tackling the agricultural economic outlook. This was followed by an inspiring talk from members of the RMA before an entertaining assessment of the political climate finished off the morning talks.
Almost immediately, it was time to start preparing for the PlanetWatchers mini-golf tournament, held in the Calusa ballroom. The mini golf course arrived quickly and the team got stuck into setting up. It took close to three hours to get the full six holes put together, but when complete, the course looked fantastic.

With some atmospheric music playing and an open bar ready, it was time to put the signs out in the hotel reception to make sure everyone who wanted to play, could find the course easily. To no surprise, as the players kept arriving and completing the course, the tricky tollbooth hole number three proved to be the hardest one to conquer.
Those that completed the course treated themselves to a well-earned drink at the bar and a chance to watch the rest of the players go through the course. Any score in the low twenties was good enough to make the leaderboard and be in with the chance of winning an Apple Watch Ultra.

Time flies when you are having fun and it was soon time to end the tournament and award the prizes. The second prize of red wine and the third place prize of a box of chocolates were collected quickly but as I write this, the Apple Watch Ultra has yet to get into the hands of the winner. That will happen tomorrow morning just before we start the final sessions of what has been a great Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention.
